Welcome to the Liberty Democratic Alliance (LDA), a democratic community of nations within NationStates, an online nation-simulation game.
Whether you've just founded your first nation or have been governing one for years, the LDA offers opportunities to connect with other governments, participate in regional politics, develop your nation's identity, and explore an expanding collection of interactive tools.
You don't need political experience, technical expertise, or an elaborate national history to get started. Bring your nation and your curiosity!
Joining is straightforward and free.
Create or sign in to your nation. If you're new, register at NationStates and establish your country.
Visit the LDA's regional page. Open Liberty Democratic Alliance on NationStates.
Move your nation. While signed in, select the option to move your nation to Liberty Democratic Alliance.
Introduce yourself! Visit the Regional Message Board (RMB), say hello, and tell us a little about your country.
Congratulations! Your nation is now a resident of the Liberty Democratic Alliance.
You can begin exploring the community and its resources immediately, though it may take up to half an hour for your nation to be included in our applications.
There's an important distinction between residency and membership.
Residents are nations located in the LDA. They can participate in regional discussions, meet other nations, and use the public Web Portal.
Official members are nations recognized under the LDA Constitution as eligible to participate in regional government, including elections and parliamentary affairs.
To qualify for official membership:
Join the World Assembly (WA) with your LDA nation, or identify another WA nation under your control as its registered controller.
If your LDA nation is not in the WA, telegram the Prime Minister or an appointed official to arrange verification of your WA controller.
Remain in the region for at least seven days to meet the constitutional eligibility requirement.
Voting normally requires 15 days of membership, and new arrivals during an election season cannot vote in that ongoing election. Eligibility to seek government office also requires at least one month of regional residency, along with the applicable membership qualifications.
Each player may hold only one recognized LDA membership.
You can remain a resident without joining the World Assembly. Official membership simply opens the door to additional political participation.
For further details, consult the Constitution of Liberty Democratic Alliance.
The LDA is a parliamentary democracy with an elected Prime Minister, a legislature, and an independent judiciary. Its Founder serves as Head of the Region and constitutional protector.
As you settle in, you can:
Participate in conversations, debates, and community activities.
Follow regional announcements, elections, and legislative proposals.
Meet other national leaders and pursue diplomatic or cultural projects.
Propose legislation as an eligible member of the Regional Assembly.
Pursue political office when you satisfy the applicable requirements.
There's no need to jump into politics immediately. Start by introducing your nation and getting acquainted with the community.
The LDA values constructive participation, respect for fellow nations, and its constitutional democratic principles.
The LDA Web Portal complements NationStates with applications designed to make our fictional world more detailed, informative, and interactive.

Explore national profiles containing demographic, economic, governmental, and other information. myLDA brings together NationStates data and additional regional modeling to provide a more comprehensive view of participating nations.

News, communications, and government resources
The portal also provides access to:
The Economic Directory, for national economic information and comparisons.
The 72-Hour Chronicle, a read-only view of recent Regional Message Board discussions.
Regional calendars, announcements, and legislative proposals.
Regional news, galleries, and opportunities to contribute content.
Most resources are publicly accessible, so you can explore them even before joining the region.
An important note: The Web Portal supplements NationStates rather than replacing it. Official nation administration, World Assembly participation, regional membership, and game mechanics remain on NationStates. Some portal statistics are additional simulations or modeled estimates rather than official game figures.
Your nation's first few days are an excellent time to become familiar with regional life.
Visit the Regional Message Board regularly to follow discussions and announcements. You can also join the LDA Discord server for additional community communication.
World Assembly nations should also familiarize themselves with the elected Prime Minister's role as WA Delegate, or with the designated WA proxy, and the region's endorsement arrangements.
You don't need to participate every day, but the LDA is intended to be an active community. Introduce yourself, stay in touch when possible, and communicate with regional officials if you have questions or expect an extended absence.
For guidance, the Prime Minister and regional officers can be contacted through NationStates telegrams.
Every nation in the Alliance contributes something different: its history, culture, politics, people, and aspirations.
Whether you're interested in governing, diplomacy, economics, geography, roleplay, creative writing, or simply getting to know fellow players, there's room to find your place here.
Welcome to the Liberty Democratic Alliance. We're glad you've joined us.
